Being an Actress and a Stylist I’m either completely dressed down lounging around at home or completely done up for an audition or client session. You can see from past blogs my style of “dress up” so now lets talk “dress down!”
No one wants to look like a slob even when in the privacy of their own home…Here are some key pieces to dressing down while still looking good:
- Leggings – get yourself a few pair of high quality leggings in black, navy or grey. For some adventure, try a patterned pair. (Make sure the pattern is in dark colors like these from American Eagle)
- Knit Sweaters – for Fall/Winter get a hold of chunky knit sweaters that are long enough to cover your bum. Throw one of these over your leggings for a comfy yet “put-together”look.
- V-Neck T-Shirt with Scarf – pick up a few V-neck Ts in basic colors like white/black or fun colors like these from American Apparel! Then throw on a printed silk or colored cotton scarf as an accessory. This can be worn with leggings or your favorite pair of jeans.
- Comfy Pants – Luckily there’s a great trend in loose-fit bottoms these days…so pick up a pair of boyfriend trousers or harem pants and look fashionable while being oh so comfy!
- Flats, Moccasins & Ballet Slippers – No way you’re gonna be walking around your house in heels, right? But if you have company, you probably want to throw on a pair of shoes. I suggest investing in TWO pairs of flat shoes. One in black or brown (that will go with everything) and one in your favorite bold color or pattern! (IE: red, yellow, purple, animal print, floral print or plaid).
- Accessories! Just because you’re working from home or lounging around doesn’t mean you can’t throw on your favorite necklace, bangles or ear rings! But keep it simple and stick to one or two pieces, you don’t want to over do it.
