Gaga Cover By The One & Only LISSIE

I met my dear friend Lissie about 4 years ago and when I first heard her sing I thought “Damn! How can one person be so freaking talented!” Seriously her voice is outstanding!…Soulful, emotional and rich. She recently did a cover of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. Its pretty bad-ass. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Fashion Tip For Women: Transitioning To Bare Legs

It’s about that time in both the West and East coasts to put away the opaque tights for Spring and Summer and transition to bare legs! Get the razors out ladies and embrace some skin. If you’re anything like me, the transition can feel weird at first. You just spent the last 6 or 7 months rocking all sorts of fun tights with your skirts, dresses and shorts and now with weather in the 70s it just feels weird. Well here are a few great tip to help with with the switch over:

  • Start with bare legs but keep the boots. (Preferably bootie boots) Going from opaque tights to bare legs and open toe shoes can be a bit jarring so take it one step at a time. You can also do bare legs with close-toe pumps as an option.
  • Mix and match a Winter/Fall tops with a Spring/Summer bottoms. Example: Pair a long-sleeve, knit sweater in black, brown or grey with a cotton, flowy skirt in beige, cream or floral print. Add booties and you’re done!
  • Add ankle socks to strappy sandals. If you don’t have a pair of bootie boots or you just want to try something different and fun…invest in a few pairs of ankle socks in pretty pastel colors like pink, yellow and cream then throw on your favorite strappy sandals or heels. Viola! a great mix of Winter and Spring.

Here are some photo examples. (Click on the image for larger view) Happy Transitioning!

Fashion Tip For Men: To Tuck Or Not To Tuck

  • If your button-down shirt falls more than 3 inches past your belt, TUCK IT IN.
  • If it falls less than 3 inches past your belt or at it, you can LEAVE IT OUT.
  • There’s also the HALF TUCK trick. Just tuck in the front portion of your top so that your belt buckle shows.

When you don’t tuck in button-down shirts that are too long you end up looking sloppy and bigger (as in fatter) than you are. Throw on a belt and show off your waist! Its a much more polished and “put together” look.

Here are some examples to help you out: (click to view larger image)

Top 5 Must Haves For Spring

A warm day on the West and East coast can only mean one thing…SPRING is just around the corner! Time to put away your Winter knits and break out the delicate florals. Here are some Must Haves for Spring. Jump to the bottom to learn how to wear them. Click on the image for a larger view.

#1 Neutral Wedges: Pair these comfy shoes with floral dresses, shorts or skinny jeans. The lighter color is great for Spring and looks hot with a bright colored pedicure.

#2 Floral Print Dresses: Girly, comfortable and sexy all in one! Have fun by accessorizing with your favorite thick OR skinny belt. You can rock Vans, Keds, Converse or Vintage combat boots to add a little boyish flair to a very girly look.

#3 Khaki Trench Coat: April showers bring May flowers right? Well, don’t let a little rain make you any less fashionable. Throw on a sexy trench and make sure to belt it so you don’t look sloppy.

#4 Black Dress Shorts: Great for Spring AND Summer (though for Summer I would save them for evening wear) pair these classy black shorts with a silk blouse or tucked in button down. Whatever top you choose, try tucking it in…it’ll give you more shape and a much more polished look.

#5 Bralet Top: Take your undies out of the bedroom but not in a trashy way  Try a bralet under a thin button down shirt with the top 3 or 4 buttons open. Or for my brave ladies with the tight abs, go for the bralet alone BUT wear it with a high-waisted bottom so your belly button is hidden. Generally speaking belly button showing = no bueno.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you’re shopping for this Spring.

J Crew: Not Just Preppy Anymore

A few months ago my good friend, actor Josh Pais, became my newest client. We were shopping in NYC and stumbled upon the J Crew Men’s Shop! It was unlike any other J Crew I’ve ever seen. The shop took the spot of the historic Liquor Store Bar, the only NYC landmark that served liquor. The 925 square foot space is divided into two rooms, with most of the old school bar fixtures still intact. Reasonably priced, these clothes were not your usual J Crew fare. Preppy polos were replaced by fitted, chic buttons downs, slim fit jeans, kick-ass shoes and designer jackets and blazers. And the sales associates were beyond helpful and super fashion savvy.

Here are some great looks you can purchase online...but if you find yourself anywhere near NYC, give the store a visit. Its quite the shopping experience!
