Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day, I want to tell you about two great designers producing Earth friendly fashion: Jungle Gurl & People Tree. Check out their stories and photos below, visit their sites, and let me know what you think. HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Jungle Gurl: The concept is simple, eco-science and yet ever-so chic. Take vintage fabrics that the former model-cum-actress-cum-designer, Natalie Golonka, has amassed over years of global travel and rework them into fabulously flattering one-of-a-kind bikinis. The first of which were quickly snapped up by LA notables Fred Segal and Planet Blue, and have since spread to several boutiques across the country. Hot!

People Tree: All you need to learn more about this UK based fashion company is their very insightful Mission Statement.

  • To support producer partners’ efforts towards economic independence and control over their environment and to challenge the power structures that undermine their rights to a livelihood.
  • To protect the environment and use natural resources sustainably throughout our trading and to promote environmentally responsible lifestyles and environmental initiatives to create new models to promote sustainability.
  • To supply customers with good quality products, with friendly and efficient service and build awareness to empower consumers and producers to participate in Fair Trade and environmentally sustainable solutions.
  • To provide a supportive environment to all stakeholders and promote dialogue and understanding between them.
  • To set an example to business and the government of a Fair Trade model of business based on partnership, people-centred values and sustainability.

Trendsetter: Alexa Chung

TV Host & Model Alexa Chung, is always one to look upon for fashion forward inspiration. This British hipster knows how to perfectly mix and match boyish pieces with girly accents. Her style is closest to mine, than any other celeb, and I dream of a day when I can raid her closet and run! Ha! Seriously though, her wardrobe is to die for. Here are some of her latest style debuts. Peep the gray ankle socks with the strappy blue heels and the oversized designer handbags…LOVE IT!

Shorts For Summer, Shorts For Spring

I’m a gal who loves shorts and chooses them over skirts, a lot of the time, for Spring and Summer fashion…I’m also a gal who went to 12 years of Catholic school and had to wear a uniform skirt everyday. So yeah, I may a little biased against skirts

The thing is, lots of time ladies will choose a skirt over shorts because they think shorts are too boyish or sporty. But in today’s fashion, there are plenty of sassy, dressy and stylish options that will give you an instant hip and chic look. So try ditching your skirt for a day and try on a cool pair of shorts!

#1 French Connection $78

#2 Helmut Lang Leather Shorts $760 (for my super dupa baller readers)

#3 Alexander Wang $430

#4 J Crew $59.50

#5 Thread Social $255

#6 Top Shop $60

Click the names above to shop the looks…And contact me or leave a comment if you have ANY style questions.

My 1st Day at E! Story

Last night marked my first of four shoot days with E! News Now and it was a blast. I arrived at 1:30p for hair & make-up in the studio and met all the fabulous make-up & hair ladies. They E! beautified me and while in the chair, I got to meet the delightful Jason Kennedy & Kym Johnson (pro dance for Dancing With The Stars). Then up I went to the offices of News Now to meet the staff and the lovely Amy Paffrath. Amy shift as host was ending and I was taking over. My wardrobe was selected and we were off and running! For the next 8 hours I would be handed news copy to go over, then head to the studio to record VOs (voice overs) and my on-camera copy. At one point we did a practice “Breaking News” run in the E! News Newsroom…that was so fun! Even though I knew it was fake, it felt super exciting. I had breaks in between as well and a delicious dinner break with Baja Fresh (ok, it wasn’t that delicious but I was so happy to be doing something I love I didn’t even care!). At 11p I was wrapped! Here’s my hosting reel. There are clips from E! News Now at the beginning.
