BET Awards: Hot Ladies

The BET Awards were held on Sunday here in LA at the Shrine Auditorium and I must say I was a little underwhelmed with the fashion on the red carpet. Or maybe overwhelmed is a better word, because I think most of the lovely starlets were dressed more like they were about to walk in a Miss America pageant than walk the BET Awards red carpet. Its the BET AWARDS ladies!!! Have fun and leave the elaborate gowns for a fancier affair. The BET Awards much like the MTV Awards or Grammy’s should be edgy, fun and chic!

Twilight: Eclipse Cast Fashion Round Up

It’s back…Twilight Mania! Tonight was the Eclipse Premiere at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and the stars were definitely out in full effect. I was quite impressed with some of the fashion selections of the cast; mainly the wine colored Gucci suit that Pattinson was sporting and the lovely Elie Saab white frock his lady Kristen was wearing. Very nice kids…very nice.

TOMS For All

I’ve been wanting to check out TOMS Shoes for a while now and finally got around to it today. I ordered a pair of red classics for me and charcoal cordones for Damien then I read up on Blake Mycoskie, CEO and Founder of TOMS Shoes and I was instantly touched and impressed! What a novel idea…create a company for profit that ALSO helps children in need. Why can’t every business do that?! Imagine a world where every time you bought a book, or CD, or pair a jeans that same item was provided to kids and families in need all over the world! It’s truly a spectacular idea that I hope all businesses will one day strive for.

Go Buy Now: 5 Summer Essentials

Its Summer Time! So let’s go shopping. Here are 5 of my favorite Summer Essentials. Read below for shopping links and “How To” wear them. Leave me a comment and let me know what’s your favorite essential. And as always, feel free to ask me any styling questions you may have. Happy Shopping!

#1 Blazers & Jackets: Military Jackets are BIG this season and perfect to throw over girly pieces to “edge it up” a bit. (Urban Outfitters $48) Ivory, Cream or Off-White Blazers will dress up everything in your closet. They look chic and polished and the light colors are a dreamy replacement to your black Boyfriend Blazer for Summer. (Ann Taylor LOFT $89.50)

#2 Floral Print Dresses: Floral dresses were hot for Spring and continue on into the Summer. They’re great when you want to stay cool and be comfy but still look fabulous. Wear them with strappy flats or earth toned wedges. (Kimchi Blue $58 & J Crew $250)

#3 Loose Fit Pants: Perfectly paired with a tank, vest or light jacket these pants are a fun twist on Summer fashion. Have fun with patterns and colors and make sure the fit is loose NOT baggy…roll up the bottoms, throw on some wedges and viola! A hip, trendy look for all body types. #4 Slouchy Shorts: The days of Daisy Dukes are long gone…so please don’t wear them! Instead opt for slouchy jean or chino shorts; they are way more comfortable and a lot more classy. #5 Pastels & Neons: Whether its a skirt, shirt or pair of pants get adventurous this Summer with pastel and neon colors! But please don’t over do it. Limit your look to ONE item of pastel or neon and make sure the rest of your outfit is basic. American Apparel is dominating in the color palettes so visit your local store and go crazy. 2010 MTV Movie Awards: The Ladies

In my opinion this years MTV Movie Awards is one of the best they’ve ever had. Though because past shows have been so boring, I haven’t watched in the last few years, so what do I know?!

Its Good To Have WiFi When Flying

Because I get to tell you a little story without having to wait until I land!

Just stepped onto my LAX –>> JFK flight and as entered the Virgin American plane and peeped out the first class patrons; I did a double-take at the guy taking his seat in row 2. He’s wasn’t a celebrity and I wasn’t “checking him out” (at least not in a sleazy sort of way) but I WAS impressed by his style. “Oooh did he read my blog post on traveling in style?!” I thought. He had on a nicely tailored denim shirt with a brown fitted sports coat, tailored slacks and he carried a very chic brown leather briefcase.

He looked GREAT! Very stylish without looking like he tried to hard…

Wouldn’t it would be nice if more men took pride in what they wore and “dressed up” a little more often? Like in the “Mad Men” days when we all cared a bit more about our appearances. Hmmm.

This blog post is less of a “How To” post and more of a “What If” post. So you tell me…ladies, would it be nice to see your man rocking something a little more fashionable from time to time? And men, do you think it would feel good or be fun to venture out in the wardrobe department?
