I had never even considered hiring a stylist before I met Grasie, but I went to her because I needed stylish yet business appropriate outfits for my speaking engagements. I was having a hard time striking that balance between having my own unique look and still looking like a professional. Grasie swooped in and did an INCREDIBLE job of staying true to my own personal style while nudging me in new directions that she knew would like great on me. The thought of having someone shop for me, and with me, was a completely foreign concept. It felt like something private and slightly embarrassing. But Grasie Mercedes changed all that. Once I hired her, she went through my clothes and made me get rid of everything I haven’t worn for years. “All those clothes that I paid good money for – so I should keep. Who cares if they didn’t look good on me.” So, that was phase one. And it happened quickly and was actually fun. I felt so free of that old clutter and I made a great contribution to the Salvation Army. Then phase two we went shopping. Then phase three, back at my house, Grasie showed me all the different combinations I could put together (I’m not going to use the word outfit). Then she took pictures of the multitude of combinations so I could have a reference. And now…I have a whole new set of clothes, I didn’t spend a fortune, and I feel fantastic about myself every time I put something on that I got with Grasie. It feels great going into meetings feeling put together as opposed to wearing baggy clothes that I used to hide in. I am so happy I gave myself this experience. Grasie makes it fun and effortless and she has a tremendous talent to pick out the perfect clothes for each person. (She did an awesome job for my Fiance, Marie, too) Thanks Grasie!

I’ll try to put into words what Grasie Mercedes has done not only for my fashion sense, but for my self confidence. Catching up with Fashion Stylist, Grasie Mercedes
Today’s my birthday, and I thought about taking the day off from blogging. But, then I decided, you know what? There’s nothing I like more in this world than writing, so why would I take off on my birthday, which is supposed to be a good day!?
Yesterday, I had the lovely chance to catch up with one of the newest style scensters out there - Grasie Mercedes. She’s the girlfriend and stylist of Damien Fahey, former TRL host and now host of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Grasie’s great because she styles for us Z-listers – the everyday chicsters – and not just the A-listers.
She’s a fashion expert, wardrobe stylist, model, actress and blogger all at one time – whew! Several years ago, she got her start through a friend who designed for American Eagle. She began styling shoots for them (and still does today) and the rest was history – she found her true love! (no offense, Damien)
While she loves the red carpet (January Jones was her fav Emmys look and she can’t get enough of Rachel Bilson’s style), she believes that anybody can achieve the right look with any budget. A few of her favorite shops? H&M, Zara, Target and Ann Taylor. “With tops and dresses, you can go cheaper and build a bigger wardrobe,” she tells me. She agrees that there are those investment pieces, like jeans and boots, and you should definitely invest in a great handbag.
Like many of us, Grasie is always looking to magazines for style inspiration and credits some of the more “trashy” reads like US Weeklyand OK for helping her find trends. This fall? She’s loving blazers with scarves – and lots of tights! “You can wear tights under shorts and spring dresses,” she says. What a great way to expand a wardrobe, right?
